Rangitata

The Rangitata River is around 120km south of Christchurch, and a bit of a mecca for Salmon fisherman. Today was our second day here, trying to catch the elusive salmon. Yes, they eluded us yet again!

But another great day, and very very different to yesterday. The river was clearer, the river mouth had changed overnight, and so had the sea. The result was that yesterdays run was pretty much over and there were far fewer fish, and fishermen.

Never mind, another good day! In this photo these guys are fishing the break instead of the channel, we're looking at them from across the river mouth.

Tomorrow we are meeting the jet boat at 6am at the Rakia Gorge. Means a very early morning ;-)
