Filling In Time

This guys sits at a table on the ice all day and sells candied fruit on a stick. It prolly gets a little boring so every once in a while he goes for a whurl on his little machine. Its about 30cm high and consists of a small seat, two foot rests and a single skate. He uses two metal poles to propel himself.

I watched him for a while. If there were no potential customers anywhere near him, he would take off on a 'run'. He flies around the ice at an amazing speed and from his face, you can tell he enjoys it. Kids often tried to catch him but this "Jack" is too nimble.

Do other places have such things? I am an Aussie. Such winter frivolity is totally foreign to me.
