Fierce

In one of the fields by the river Rotte a group of geese has taken up permanent residence, in Spring the 'migrate' to an islet in a pond close to it to make nests and breed. Several females sit on the nest for months on end, but we have never seen any chicks been born. The group always stays seventeen in number. They are mixed breed, some brown, some white and some with brown and white patches.

This goose gave me and my dog some fierce looks while swimming around the islet. He had tried to cross the walking path to the field a little earlier, but my dog had chased him back in to water (she is probably half his size).
