Sunday Night
Ahhhh, it is Sunday night. It is the end of a busy and exciting weekend and the kids are sleeping soundly in their beds. We read 'Pinkalicious' and Curious George plus two more books to close out the weekend. The first two books have been read now every single night for the last week. They love them. And they are now at the point to where I can start a sentence and they can each end it. I do love it. I brings me back to teaching kids how to read back when I taught Kindergarten.
Our weekend. Let's see. It started with my parents arriving Friday afternoon. Our kids are always excited to see them but this time it was a little different. They could hardly contain themselves. And they kept sitting at the front window waiting even though I had just told them that their Nona and HP were still two hours away. Their excitement was adorable and my parents loved the extremely enthusiastic welcome when they arrived. That evening, my husband and my Dad went to an NBA game and the rest of us went to Tball practice. My Mom was laughing so hard watching the little 5 year olds attempting to catch grounders and throw the ball back into the Coach's mitt. "This is adorable", she kept saying.
And then Saturday was the 2nd annual PacNW blipmeet. I can't believe that I actually had to leave my house at 6:45am in the morning but I did and 'Party of 5' was waiting eagerly at 7 and after a quick trip to Starbucks, we were on our way. We got to the Tulip Festival an hour before admission. They opened the place up early for the 'Blippers' and for the 'Shutterbug' Photography class. Needless to say, we were surrounded by fancy cameras and tripods. It was awesome! Meanwhile back at home, my parents took the kids to tball practice and my Dad got a real kick out of watching our son out on the field. They are so excited to see an actual game. We all are. When I got home, my Mom was taking a little snooze on the couch and my Dad had both kids sitting next to him on the other end of the couch. Each of the kids had an iphone in their hands and were tuned in to two different cartoons. Hilarious. We went out and grabbed a nice dinner and ended the evening with a trip to Dairy Queen. And everyone crashed early.
Today. Sunday. My Mom and I slept in until 8:30am. Bliss! And meanwhile my Dad had the kids downstairs and made them breakfast. And here is the funny part, they talked him into letting them have chocolate chips in their cheerios. Oh HP, they know that they can get just about anything they want from their HP. My parents left around noon and we headed out to a birthday party. The kids were so excited! And when we walked into the house, one of my son's good little friends screamed his name at the top of his lungs. It was quite a welcome. And from that point on, my son was off and running. Just another one of the kids running, playing hide and seek, pretending to be Star Wars guys.....I love to see that. I love how he can mix in with his friends so well. And my daughter, well her confidence is growing as well. Usually the timid one in newer situations, she walked right up to the other 3 year old girl and nonverbally stood in front of her saying, "Let's play". And they played. They painted rocks, they made beaded necklaces. They ran around in the backyard together. All in all, a wonderful afternoon.
So here we are. Sunday night and as I said earlier, the kids are all tucked in and sleeping soundly. It has been a busy weekend and we are all feeling the need to kick back and relax. Because tomorrow, we will hit the ground running for another week full of preschool, tball, friends, etc. and etc. Signing off all blippers and blip readers. Hope your weekend was a memorable one!
