Mt Pinatubo crater lake
After a 30 min taxi ride, a 3h van ride, a 1h 4x4 jeep ride and a 3h trek in a lahar laden ravine (dry now of course, apart from a river winding its way across its surface), we reached the crater of Mt Pinatubo. Gorgeous!
We were taken by boat to the other side of the crater where the seismic activity could still be felt in the "oh so darn hot" sand and water. Some of the guides actually dug a hole in the sand that filled up with water, where they proceeded to boil eggs (took but 15 minutes). Yep, that's where we went for a swim :)
After enjoying the gorgeous views and the water (and not enjoying the incredibly yucky toilet), we went back the same way we came: 3h trek, 1h 4x4 ride, 3h van ride and a 45 minute taxi ride (more traffic at this time of the day). Ended the day (exhausted) having dinner and drinks in Makati City, Manila.
