Romania Day 2- Bucuresti

This is Romania's National Theatre, right in the heart of Bucharest.

Romania's largest city, Bucharest was designated the capital in 1862. Not long ago Bucharest was a dark, dirty and dismal city with cold flats and empty shops. Mainly due to being under Communist rule for 40 years, until the revolution in 1989. After Ceausescu was captured, put on trial and sentenced to death, a provisional goverment was formed and took immediate steps to improve living conditions. Food was withdrawn from export and put on sale in shops, heating quotas were withdrawn, the abortion decree was repealed and the right of everyone to hold a passport was introduced.
