Ash

There seemed to be lots to do after our trip away - mounds of washing to be done, emails to be triaged, etc. We went up to the allotment for a couple of hours serious graft; it was almost too hot in the sunshine. Have given up on the November sown broad beans - reckon the ice and snow caught them out. So have resown a few late ones plus some leeks, purple sprouting and turnips. A short row of radish that I sowed only last week is up already, hurray!

I saw Mr Fish working on his allotment in the distance and was hoping to feature him in my blip, but by the time I got the camera out he was involved in discussions and possibly tea with some another allotmenteers, so I missed out.

These strange growths that I have blipped are apparently the flowers of the European Ash. Looks to me more like something that you might find underwater! The leaves are still tightly locked up in those big black buds.
