Salford Sunset

This is what Bill Turnbull and his co-workers at the BBC will see when they relocate to Salford Quays. Yes, it's been reported that half the staff at the Beeb do not want to make the move and will commute rather than live here.

This colourful view from the Lowry Theatre has altered much since Queen Victoria declared the Manchester Ship Canal open in 1894.

Making this 36 mile link between Manchester and the sea, (even though Queen Victoria was stood in Salford at the time) cost 3 times the initial budget of £5 million. Who costed that one out?!

Closed in 1982, this dock area has now been given one almighty make-over and is quite a trendy place to live.

Just not trendy enough for some though....
