Our Lakeland retreat.
It was late afternoon when we arrived so only time to wander round the immediate surroundings and get the feel of the place. We stayed in a tiny lodge, basically just one room, Bracken thought that was great! The view is from the back (only) door and just over the wall is the woodland leading up to Whitemoss Common. It was quite an isolated spot but plenty of bird company which we encouraged by supplying plenty of nut and seed feeders. The woodpecker was a regular as were a pair of nuthatches, various members of the titmice family and we did get a few visits from a pair of bullfinches. Weather was very good on arrival and we were optomistic for the next day.
