Lunchtime

The newts like the sunny weather and swim around on the surface posing for photos (not really, they mostly sulk underneath leaves and other debris).

This one looks like (s)he's about to have lunch but the skater skated just in time. I'm not sure whether the newts do take insects, they certainly eat their larvae.

They also eat all the frog and toad spawn and we no longer get many frogs in the pond like we once did.

Plenty of green algae though.
