Marsh Marigold
I got a very nasty awakening this morning. heard birds scuffling on the roof tiles then lots of noisy screeching from the crows. looked outside and saw them attacking a hawk beside the green house. Thehawk had caught a magpie and refused to give it up . There were five crows attacking this hawk which beat them off. The crows retired to the top of a poplar tree in the next door garden , occasionally swooping down on the hawk which wasn't giving up its prey. Altogether the nastiest wildlife incident I have witnessed !
The hawk must have been hurt because it hid in the bushes and the crows seemed to know this because they kept screeching down at him. later we went to investigate but the hawk must have got away.
Needless to ay all the small garden birds were very wary after this and didn't spend too long at the feeder station. Didn't get any bird shots today and it was a miserable wet , grey daay. So tonight's blip is a late vening shot of the marsh marigold which has emerged from the pondin the garden. Quite dark so had to use flash here.
LARGE might be worth a look.
