Patients kitchen

This picture shows the patient's kitchen at the small hospital I work at. This is where the patient's families prepare food for their sick relative and themselves. All the cooking is done on claypot fires and is bought daily from the small market in front of the hospital. The hospital provides rice. The hospital kitchen can be seen just behind the patient's kitchen and is almost exactly the same. When I first arrived here I was surprised at the basic facilities available . I now realise that tasty meals can be prepared with and on what appears to me to be very little.Preparing the food is a highly sociable event and I enjoy seeing what everyone is cooking and listening to the chat that goes on. It always smells wonderful as well . When the food is cooked everyone sits(or squats) down together to enjoy it which reminds me of a big picnic
