Juvie Anhingas

I went to the Venice Rookery in Venice, Florida, for the third time in 6 weeks. Camera wise, it's a little bit frustrating...because I just don't have enough zoom to get close enough.
It's still nice to go because the area is really interesting. It's a small island in the middle of a small lake. The birds don't get some of their natural enemies because there is a resident alligator who patrols the lake. i saw him today as he snuck up on the island. I guess he occasionally gets one of the little birds.
These young anhingas were screaming to their mother that they were ready to be fed. and it looks like mom is ready to hire the snowy egret to baby-sit while she goes out to rustle up some grub.
Other birds in the area include blue herons, night herons, giant egrets, and black-bellied whistlers.
Rain possible the next few days. I am watching a Muscovy Duck mother on her nest on the ground. Hope I get to see the babies.
