lethal white
Yesterday one of the mares foaled. Unfortunately, the baby had to be put down today because had a genetic disorder called lethal white. It causes the GI tract to be underdeveloped, inevitably killing them by causing colic from acute constipation. On the outside he looked perfect and acted like a rambunctious baby. Even though, I know it was the right decision it was strange watching them put down this baby that looked so perfect on the outside. I should have taken a pictures of him and his mom nuzzling. I had my camera, but for some reason I couldn't take the picture. Instead, I just watched him.
