Sayonara, Nippon
I found out today that my college will not permit me to take their camera equipment to Tokyo with me in April, in light of current events. This after I was told, mere days post-quake, that it would not be a problem. I cannot deny that I am disappointed, and in no small way.
I apologise in advance, but this description will mostly be my misjudged wailing. I do realise that the earthquake affected many much worse than I. I have all of those unfortunate people on my mind, and am thankful that none of my friends were injured severely.
However I had been looking forward to and saving for this holiday since the day I returned from Japan. That's about 18 months. It was my opportunity to see my friends again, my opportunity to see my class as they graduate and leave high school forever. This is why I am so desperate not to postpone my trip.
Further I had been planning my tv project since October, eating up valuable time I should probably have used on my first year assignment. Then when the Earthquake struck I started figuring out what I could salvage from my plans so far and what I would want to add. I suddenly had an opportunity to make not just an interesting project, but something that could actually be great. Possibly.
Now it appears I have to abandon my project, and it's becoming gradually clearer that I am soon going to have to do the same to my trip.
Goodnight, folks.
