Supermoon
Saturday was the supermoon...
Here in Chicagoland we had beautiful clear skies all day...and late in the afternoon the clouds rolled in. I went with the photography club down to FermiLab to shoot the moon over the ponds on the campus.
Fermilab specializes in high-energy particle physics. The tevatron is the worlds second largest particle accelerator at 3.9 miles (6.3km) in circumference. There is something very cool about being on the grounds with the accelerator. I am totally fascinated by physics.
I, of course, wandered away from the group to see if I could get a different view. I found this great spot between two large ponds. Looking over the pond behind me was a beaufitul view of Wilson Hall. The pond in front of me is the picture I posted. Though the moon barely peeked out from the clouds.
Standing alone in the silent dark between the two ponds I began to feel like I was in an M. Night Shyamalan movie. I forgot my flashlight. Kind of funny really.
My camera doesnt autofocus in the dark and the wind was soooo cold that my eyes would not stop watering. Most of my pictures are out of focus but it was still worth the trip just to stand out there.
This is what I love about photography....it takes me to the most interesting places.
