Stitch 'n' Bitch!

Very long tiring day at work - absolutely shattered. It was our turn on the emergency rota this afternoon, so you don't know what problems you will face and it can be hard going, but I do enjoy the work.

What I don't enjoy is the ever increasing bureaucracy and mountains of forms, audits and paperwork. They are mad keen on 'continuing professional development', whereas some of us just want to carry on doing the job we are doing, not chasing further qualifications. So much of the paperwork is simply to make sure we are covering our backs in case of being sued. How did the world manage without risk assessments, incident reporting, policies on every damn thing debated at meeting after meeting, finally written out and it's what we've been doing for the last how ever long anyway! There is barely time to see patients and yet they are the reason we are there. The tiny surgery is becoming swamped in piles of box files - every piece of paper must be kept for future reference, even though the information is on the computer. There has to be a paper trail incase of litigation, but it is becoming utter madness!

Sorry - rant over! I have deleted about the same amount again! But it get me so mad!

Just come in from my stitch and bitch - this is not my patchwork but it is so bonny and is cheery and colourful and that's what I feel I need to end on!

Sorry I haven't commented for the last couple of days - am total knackered! Hope to catch up tomorrow . . . . Day off!!!!
