I attended a course today

in Winchester. As I waited for the park and ride bus to take me back to my car I looked at the statue of King Alfred which has stood here since 1899. I wonder what changes he has seen in his time?
On a humourous note, there is a myth which states that if a female virgin at least 16 years old walks around the statue three times in a clockwise direction, Alfred will lower his sword!!!
