Day 2

Arrived in Shanghai about 5.30pm. First impressions were that the airport was immaculate, very well organised and that staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The guy at immigration even smiled - something that is completely unheard of in a similar situation going into the States!

Quick change in the hotel and out for a meal. Some friends took us across the road for a traditional meal in one of the private dining rooms in the restaurant. We all sat around this large circular table and dish after dish was presented to us - each one more grand than the last. Accompanied by Chinese beer and warm yellow rice wine, it was quite a feast. Pity I am not so good with chopsticks... am learning though!

Anyway, this is the view from the hotel room. Texture adds interest perhaps, but more importantly it covers up the mucky bits on the window.
