Ox cart
Cambodia is a rapidly developing country and many things are very 21st century. It is possible now to find internet access in most towns and even some villages.Lots of people own at least 1 or 2 mobile phones . But every so often one gets the feeling that life has whizzed back 100 years or more. Seeing these ox carts always does that to me.This one is trundling over the bridge in the town I am living in.This is quite unusual as they are more often seen in rural rather than suburban areas. There wasn't much of a load on this one but they are capable of carting huge weights. They are widely used in the rice fields to pull ploughs . The oxen are usually skinny- I suspect most have worms though these 2 look healthy enough. The driver squats rather than sits to drive the cart in that way that only Asian people can do. This cart is 1 of the ones I like the best in that it even has wooden wheels which quite definately gives it a very ancient look
