Squiffy by the Sea

Arthur Moon

this isn't my best moon pic (which has to go to Big Moon) as there was a thin wisp of cloud out tonight but it is interesting to see how the earth's shadow line is anything but regular.

We see artists pictures of moons and the curve is always a lovely smooth line, but as you can see, the crators and mountains on the moon make it a very jagged line when you look closely.

I also learned how fast it travels in relation to us today, with a focal length of 800mm (400mm lens and 2x converter) and the camera on 10x magnification the moon moved south east in the frame at an alarming rate and wasn't visible at all in less than a minute.

Anyway its bed time now so that all from me for today, but a late night blip means I can get on with other things until Sunday now :-)
