I.K. Brunel - Engineer!
Finally had a chance to catch up on my blipping. I might even have a chance to catch up on other peoples journals if I'm allowed!!
Anyway, this one is the Tamar Bridge, which joins Devon to Cornwall. On the left is the railway bridge, built by that famous engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In our house, we regularly have debates about which is better - literacy or engineering. In my opinion, engineering is the best, because without it, where would be all the roads, bridges and railways......
But then you need to know how to read and write to fully understand engineering - so there is a place in this world for everyone.
Question is.... What is the difference between this bridge and the Severn Bridge going into Wales?
Driving into Cornwall is free of charge, but you have to pay to leave. Driving into Wales costs a second mortgage (especially when driving the works van). However, its free to leave Wales. At least back home in Scotland, we've got teh right idea - toll free on all Scottish Bridges!
