bamboo bridge

This bridge is one of the most wonderful feats of engineering I have ever seen. It goes across the Mekong river at Kampong Cham in Cambodia. What is amazing about it is that rebuilt every year. In the wet season( May - Oct) there is a ferry here which links this small island with the mainland. In the dry season the people of Kampong Cham build this bridge entirely from bamboo which they then use until it is washed away again in the the following wet season. as the Mekong swells due to the massive rainfall There don't appear to be any nails or screws used in it It seems to be held together with wire. I rode a bike across it and saw motos, pony traps and cars using it as well as pedestrians. On the other side ,the bank of the Mekong is used as a beach complete with pedaloes!Truly amazing!
