Running away from it all

What a huge, and fantastic day!

Because of the recent earthquake, obviously people have been very down and children have been stuck at home bored and miserable.

One of the zoos in Christchurch, Willowbank, was relatively unscathed, and got power back on! So to give everyone a break they opened their doors free to the public for the whole week! Willowbank is normally very expensive and not something I could afford during such trying times, so I took advantage of this.

My son turned 5 today - I can't believe the time has gone so quickly! He was really gutted because his party last week had to be postponed due to us having no water, power and the whole city in a state of shock and despair. He was so happy to be able to go somewhere so awesome to celebrate his birthday with the people he loves.

This is my Mum and him outside the building afterwards. You can see how happy he is! Times like this that make me realize how bloody lucky I am to have such a special little man in my life.
