Hung Up

I can never seem to catch a decent photo of a hawk on the wing. Today instead I captured a hawk on the fence - unfortunately he has a broken neck and broken wing and is very very dead. The squashed rabbit in the middle of the road suggests that he was feeding and left it too long to escape an oncoming vehicle.

A sad sight, yet beautiful in its own way. I spotted him and photographed him back on the weekend, but then decided on a different blip. I went back to capture him today, and he's looking a little the worse for wear, lost a few more feathers and got very wet in the torrential rain we had this morning but is still a gorgeous variety of colours and I feel his majesty still shows.
