A New Day

part 2 of 3
you can probably guess where this is going

My good friend Katie told me when looking at this series,
"Your photos of winter in Scotland are so incredibly depressing. It looks like a desert almost. I mean, I know there are trees and building and life, but it seems completely devoid of any type of personality. There is absolutely no force, but space." It was intended as a compliment and if you know me and you're familiar with my work, you know that's how I took it.

My blip journal and flickr and facebook are so self indulgent it almost feels wrong, but I love that they help me stay in touch with my friends all over the world. I haven't seen Katie since middle school and we didn't exactly leave each other best buds, but since I hit her up maybe a year ago we've realized that we're actually so much alike. I can tell this chick anything, every horrible personal detail. She knows it all and understands, but she also has no problem calling me out on my bullshit. Like I said last time about my weekend in St. Andrews. Life is short and I am way too young and way too alive to to risk losing time. I want to burn my candle at both ends, but I also want to focus on what's important, on being a good friend, a good brother, a good son, and a few other things too. To everyone who knows and loves me, I love you just as much and I will do everything I can to see you all. Sooner than later. I promise.

Champagne for my real friends and real pain for my sham friends.
