December 2018 Revision. 30 Months later.
After a pause of two years, during which I “lost focus”, and a change of main cameras, I am back to blipping. I have sold the big, beautiful Canon 5D mark III and its big heavy lenses and picked one that is lighter and simpler.
My new go-to camera is a Canon SX60 HS. This camera is compact at 1.5 pounds and has a 65X zoom resulting in a 1365mm optical zoom. After two years of use, I have finally learned how to capture in RAW.
August 2016 Revision. 15 months later
This month is my 80th birthday and my bio has been way out of date. After blipping daily for six years, I lost focus during the last year.
Last year was eventful. After Lois, my wife of 54 years, passed away, I purchased a new house and moved back to SaddleBrooke in the beautiful Santa Catalina mountains of Arizona. I have a new highly-energized girl friend and we love to go places and do stuff. And…I have shed 40 pounds.
Now that my life has settled down, it is time to return to the daily blip.
Enjoy my photos and my adventures!
May 2015 Revision. A ten month update
As of July 2014 we sold our house in SaddleBrooke and moved to The Fountains, an Independent Living facility in Tucson. A major reason for the move was that Fountains is a month-to-month rental and we would not have to possibly wait a year to sell a house. We have the flexibility to leave the rental on short notice. I have become a caregiver for my wife of 53 years who has developed memory problems. Many of my photos are from nearby or on short trips. Many are of nature subjects because we live adjacent to a wash that is 200 yards wide with a view of the Santa Catalina Mountains. We often have visiting creatures such as birds, javelinas, coyotes, and an occasional bobcat.
Initial Profile
Retired Engineer and Amateur Photographer. ??We live in an Active Adult Community nestled in the Santa Catalina Mountains, just North of Tucson Arizona. Elevation here is about 3,500 feet above sea level. My main hobbies are Golf, Bicycling, and Photography. Of course, I am hooked on my Macbook to which I converted in the last couple of years. ??Contrary to my preconceived notions, the desert is not a dry and lifeless place. There is an abundance of animal and plant life with much interesting material for photography. There are tons of flowers, animals, and birds throughout the year. I find many great images in our backyard or in a simple walk around the block or around golf courses.
