As you may gather from my sign-in, I was born in 1940 - on Hallowe'en to be precise.
Photography has been my main hobby certainly since I left school and bought my first 35mm camera with my own money. Previously I had used a 'Box Brownie' - but sparingly, as my parents could not afford too much developing and printing. Over the decades I have used all sorts of cameras from 35mm to 6x6 and dabbled with 8mm movie. I always preferred slides to prints and liked to make slide shows with spoken or music commentary. How different things are now with digital - unlimited images, instant viewing, only print what you really want, make adjustments.
As a career I was a pharmacist but now retired.
I have no husband or children, but do have 4 dogs - who feature often in my photos. A few years ago I did a photo-a-day record purely for myself and often had to resort to a late night shot of a dog to produce that day's image. I'll try not to do that here too often!
Apart from the dogs, I enjoy photographing nature - birds, flowers, bugs, views, skies - and also architectural interiors, especially of churches and cathedrals. I rarely photograph people because I have no-one close and don't like to ask strangers if I can photograph them - and would not feel comfortable taking a photo without asking.
I am looking forward to seeing and commenting on other people's work and sharing some of my efforts with you all.
