Hi, I'm a retired educator - could have put "teacher" there but for the last 11 years of my career worked for a local authority in London. Before that, 25 years in secondary schools in Kent.
Love sport, of all sorts, the natural environment and travel. And also photography, which seems to me a bit like golf. Only one click away from a good shot!
And also heritage railways and the allotment.
Trained as a geographer and specialised in physical geography, so the natural world in all its guises excites me (although you'd never guess from my photos)
Just aiming to take better and more interesting photographs and learn more about the functions on the camera. Hope that the Journal will become a diary recording the golden years my wife and I are sharing and become part of a wider blog and website idea that has been washing around in my mind for a while.(January 2013)
Time for an update, four years in. What I wrote when I started has remained pretty constant, especially the golden years which, to me, are exceptionally good. Blip has become one of the pillars of each day and is not only proving to be a learning experience, an memory aid but also a great community full of people who share common interests and values. Still not much better at the photography though but I do look at the world with different eyes. (February 2017)
Time for an update at 2500 consecutive blips, (5th November 2019). How time flies when you’re having fun. So much packed in to the past (nearly) 7 years. So much still to do, not least get better at that Ukulele by picking as well as strumming and picking the melodies too. Only trouble is that the fingers in my right hand refuse to do what the brain tells them.
Enjoying the photography even more, learning all the time, although not significantly better than years ago.
It’s the people that make Blipfoto isn’t it? We’ve met some really wonderful people, virtually and in the flesh and every one of you epitomises the spirit of Blipfoto
