My name is Dick Bal, aka Dirk Johannes Bal, and living in Brazil since February 1995. Originally I'm from Yerseke a small fishermen's village in the southwestern part of the Netherlands.
I have studied at the nautical college "de Ruyter" in Vlissingen and worked as a merchant marine officer on sea-going vessels for 7,5 years.
After that period I've joined Philips Electronics in 1986, and stayed with that company till 2007, of which the last 12 years in Brazil. After leaving Philips I decided to stay in Brazil and now active in Oil & Gas business.
In my spare time I'm a scout-leader which I enjoy very much.
If spare times allows, I keep track of maritime issues, and specifically the ship movements in the port of Santos / Brazil.
On this photo blog I will report what I will find on my way, and therefore will be a mirror of my interests and day-to-day life here in Brazil.
I hope you will enjoy my contributions.
