I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, belong to a Nature Photography Society, and enjoy photographing in the natural environment. My favourite habitats are deserts and mountains, and my favourite location is the western United States where I spend 2-3 months most years. I have joined Blipfoto to give myself the incentive to use my camera every day so as to improve my photography. This makes me extend my range of subjects, and critically examine my work every day.
The cameras I use are an Olympus E5 and an Olympus XZ-1, also sometimes an iphone 5. I love the Olympus system, and wish the accessories were not so expensive in New Zealand.
I enjoy looking at other people's images, which can be inspiring, and I appreciate comments that others make on my efforts. For me, this site is more about the photographs and less about the text. I like to write, but here I am restricting myself to providing background information about the images I have uploaded.
This little chipmunk is a least chipmunk, Tamias minimus, that was photographed in Badlands National Park in South Dakota, some distance away from any other chipmunk populations. Its coloring is a little different from other least chipmunks I've seen, and it may be a different subspecies.
