At the end of last year one of my favourite trees was 'pruned'. I counted the rings on a log from one of the main branches and there were 72. So I would say the tree itself is at least 100 years old.

At the end of last year one of my favourite trees was 'pruned'. I counted the rings on a log from one of the main branches and there were 72. So I would say the tree itself is at least 100 years old.

I thought the tree could be my totem (inspired by David Hockney!). I'm going to try to take a picture of it more or less each day and watch for changes as it hopefully starts to grow again.

Now that I have taken a few pictures I'm amazed at how different it looks as the weather changes. It's made me look very closely at the images and sometimes I'm startled by the colours in a picture that might have become boring to me by now.

It's an Acacia by the way!
