Started this journal in January 2012. I was just getting into photography then - now it has become an obsession! Within a year or so I started writing a haiku each day to go with the picture ... now both things are inextricably linked in my mind. So I changed the journal title from "Hyacinths to feed thy soul" to "Haikography".
The original name for this journal came from this poem, which kind of sums up my philosophy life:
If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy store
Two loaves alone the thee are left,
Sell one and with the dole,
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul
Another favourite quote is this one by Paul Klee which sums up my feelings about good art:
"Art does not reproduce the visible, it makes visible."
I live in rural East Sussex and love both countryside and town. I try and capture something which has had some sort of impact on me... that's the only criteria really. My ambition is to be able to reproduce the image in my head, or to convey the feeling something gave me. .... I may be here for some time .....
