I'm a scientist. Yes, really. A molecular biologist.

And middle aged. But I see the world sometimes as if it's all new and strange. Or funny. And I'm fairly artistic, visually-oriented. So this photo journal idea appealed to me.

I like wilderness, like Alaska. Places like the American southwest appeal to me too. No people.

For the first time in my life, I'm having the opportunity to travel to a lot of cities around the world and give talks. So expect a lot of silly travel photos. So there!

I've reinvented my career several times, and I think it keeps me young. Young and exhausted sometimes, but young nonetheless. We'll see if I have the energy and motivation to keep this journal going. Sounds like fun...
