After 30+ years as a community college professor, I retired. My last day of employment was June 16, 2020. The world was in perpetual Covid at that time. So commencement was “virtual,” and certainly lacked luster. I consider retirement to be six Saturdays and a Sunday! and I enjoy it thoroughly. I never have to grade another student essay. I miss the classroom but not the grading. Mr.Fun & I have lived our lives in Southern California (see those details below). In 2018 we sold our big home with the resort backyard; we had purchased that home in 1994. Just until I retired, we moved back to our first home that had been a rental for 24 years. After I retired we lived half in SoCal and half on the coast .then in March 2023 our adult daughter, who is divorced, moved back to rent her childhood bedroom from us. She is now the caretaker of that home. We have moved to live almost 100% California’s Central Coast; our doctors and dentists are in SoCal. I am 74; Mr. Fun is 78. We have two old pups; Chloe and Mitzi. Max died in March 2020. We have two adult children; three adult grandchildren; four great-grandchildren whose ages are 17 (Tristan), 8 (Jade), 5 (Emillia) and 4 (RJ > Robert John). So I am a wife to one, a mom to 2, a grandma to 3, and a great-grandma to 4. I am also a Christian. I love the Lord Jesus Christ. I read thru the entire Bible every year. My name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Finally, I am a writer; desiring to write was written into my DNA. Read my previous profile messages below to get my whole story.

It's Thanksgiving Day in America. I'm thankful for the opportunity and privilege to post a daily photo and commentary. I've been doing so since January 5, 2009. I haven't missed a day, but do back-blip when a day is too full to get to this journal. I think of this as my very private, public journal. A few of my friends know about my journal and none of my family, except Mr. Fun. Someday, when I'm gone, my family will have these pages -- and the stories I've penned, the history I've captured -- for them to read. I'm 67; I've been married to Mr. Fun since I was 15 and he was 19. I'm in my 26th year of fulltime teaching at a community college in southern California. We live in SoCal and in 2012 purchased our small retirement home on California's Central Coast in the little town of Cayucos (ky-U-cuss), which is situated 4 miles above the city of Morro Bay, 12 miles south of Cambria, and about 26 miles south of the magnificent Big Sur Coast. We spend my long summer and winter breaks and almost every other weekend on the coast. We'll sell our big SoCal home when I retire and then downsize to our upgraded little house as we move permanently to the coast. Mr. Fun retired the end of May 2014. We have three dogs who are often featured in my photos -- Chloe (white), Mitzi (tan), and Max (black) a rainbow of pups! We have an adult son and daughter; three adult grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; they all occasionally appear in my journal. Mostly, I'm thankful to God for love, forgiveness, and an eternal home that does not depend on my goodness or ability.

I like the silhouette (the photo here [gone now]), so I have finally and again changed my "about" page photo. I'm still as in love with Blipfoto as I was 2+ years ago. I do find it much more difficult to have the time to comment. For that I apologize. I came to this online site mostly to have a place to write daily. for the past 20 years, I have been teaching writing, so I have a firm belief that I must be writing daily. I cannot teach what I am not doing.

We got all dressed-up to attend the December 5th wedding of Jessica & Billy and managed to get someone to click a photo of us. Since mid-July Mr. Fun has lost 50 pounds and I think he looks so good. So it seemed like time to post a newer photo, so here it is. Even though the photo is no longer here, this links to one that does let you see us.

I hope to soon grab enough time to write an explanation of who I am so I can post it in this "about" section of Blip. At the moment, I am simply having fun. and attempting to get in the groove of daily blipping. I would like to use my journal as a daily reminder of my life--family and friends--by posting one photo with write-up each day.
Briefly, I was born and raised in So. Calif. and I still live here in this land of fruits and nuts. I love this place. For the past 18 years I have been employed full-time at a community college to instruct students to learn to write accurate and meaningful prose. It gets more difficult as the younger generation transitions to text-messaging as their first language. If the state budget does not go bankrupt, I'll continue encouraging students that writing is a powerful tool.
More later. For now, I'm off to view the blips of others.
