I live in an old town called Ayvalik, on the north Aegean coast of Turkey, where I have restored an Ottoman Greek house and converted its attached camel barn into a library.
Ayvalik is a very beautiful and unusual place, with a sad and turbulent history.I am well aware that my photographic technique is, at best, primitive, but the visual impact of the mixture of beauty and decay here is so strong that even I feel impelled to try and record it.
