This is for my son Sam Kane. It is his 25th birthday present from me.

I haven't seen Sam in over 20 years. His mother ran off with his stepfather and then fabricated a story about me which they used to convince him to hate me.

Despite a court ruling in my favour to have access to Sam they left the country without my knowledge. It took me years to find Sam and when I finally did he doesn't want anything to do with me because he thinks I'm someone I'm not.

Every time I have tried to find a way to get through to Sam I have been obstructed by the actions of his mother and stepfather. They are scared he will find the truth.

Maybe Sam will never see this photo journey but at least I have had the love for him to wish to create this for his birthday present on 3rd March 2013. It is to be a year on my life which he can have when we find each other again.

Sam is now a tattoo artist in Sydney, Australia. I live in New Zealand
