I remember being fascinated by the ice's surface that day. It looked as if it got somehome shattered, and then refrozen. The same obscure phenomenon was to be seen on all the lakes and ditches in the park. I wonder what caused the effect. Perhaps there was a sudden drop of temperature...? Some tampering with the surface tension...?
Step forward, physicists ;-)
