Mort Safes

It was a lovely sunny but frosty morning and I went out on my bicycle for the first time since November. On my way back I stopped in at Aberfoyle old church cemetery.

Aberfoyle old church was built in 1744 and ceased to be used when the new church was built in 1870. In front of the church are two cast iron 'mort safes'. These date back to the early 19th century when grave robbing was common. Body snatchers would dig up recently deceased corpses and sell them to doctors and medical students to use in dissection experiments. Families would bury there loved ones in the mort safes to stop the bodysnatchers from getting the bodies.

When I got back home I discovered that I had lost my lens cap. Cycled back but couldn't find it. This blipping lark is costing a fortune, lost lens caps, lots of extra clothes washing from crawling / climbing in order to get 'the' shot and not forgetting the cow incident.
