A Surprising Find

On our walk today in Tollohill Woods on the Banchory Devenick Estate we came across this monument to Prince Albert which has great views of the city. The obelisk was built to commemorate the visit of Prince Albert to Banchory Devenick House in 1859. He was in Aberdeen attending a meeting of the British Association and stayed with Mr Thompson at Banchory Devenick House. There is meant to be a plaque but couldn't see it today. Walk was great, weather marvellous and scenery fantastic.
