Koli

After having spent a week in Kuusamo and Ruka we started our 900km drive home. We had planned in advance to split the drive in two by spending a night at Koli, a skiing resort in eastern Finland.

The last part of the drive to Koli was a bit unusual as we chose to drive the 7km ice road over the lake Pielinen. The ice road shortens the distance from Lieksa to Koli by more than 50km. The ice road is opened by the authorities when the thickness of the ice is more than 40cm.

This shot is taken in the afternoon from the skiing lift at Koli.
