Sunset and Arnside Tower
Arnside Tower, Arnside, Cumbria
Blipper's dilemma tonight. It was such a lovely day, and we saw so many photogenic things, that the choice of one to blip was agonising. Should we go for the singing dunnock in the garden, the cascade of snowdrops below the ruined house above Beetham, the heron flying to its nest with twigs in its bill, more murmurations of starlings, or this? This was Wifie's choice.
We were on our way to Leighton Moss again to see the starlings come to roost, but had to stop for a look at Arnside tower against a backdrop of the most extraordinary cloudy, sunset sky. I have blipped this view before, but on a grey day when the Tower was mirrored in the flooded field below. It was mirrored again tonight, but not so clearly this time.
As for the herons, we had stopped to look at them between Milnthorpe and Sandside, just below the heronry. There were 29 stood around in the field and on the walls, an amazing sight, but it didn't make for a stand-out photograph.
A beautiful day, that like yesterday just got better as it went on. What a weekend, when the forecast on Friday was for more rain and cloud. We had the rain, but it came overnight.
Thank you so much for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday's blip of the apostrophe shaped murmuration of starlings. The reaction was quite overwhelming.
