Liathach
This was what I'd come all this way for! The last day before the thaw truly set in, and it was getting soft. Worryingly soft. All thoughts of a harder ice route to gain the ridge were forgotten as large pieces of them fell off around us! Stunning, and certainly the grade II traverse over the pinnacles is a memorable one. I suspect in better snow conditions it is somewhat more secure feeling - though the exposure would remain... gripping! Perhaps the large blanket of cloud that descended beyond this point, and remained for the rest of the day perhaps mitigated this feeling somewhat - there are after all, only so many hundreds of metres of vertical drop below ones crampons, as the wind buffets you like a rag doll, that it is in fact desirable to see I feel...
