Birley Stone
A medieval waymarker off Whalejaw (aka Jawbone) Hill near Grenoside, with Sheffield city in the distance. This area turned out to be a good spot for birds, with Redwing, Green and Great Spotted Woodpecker, Stock Dove, Lapwing and singing Yellowhammer all seen. In the nearby fields were a staggering 50+ Magpies... I don't think there's a superstitious rhyme for that number!
