Grizzly Girl

Having had a great two weeks off, acheiving that balance between catching up with friends and family, eating and boozing, outdoor pursuits and lounging around doing nothing, today was going to be about getting prepared for heading back to work tomorrow. Instead, I've spent most of the day coughing and spluttering with a tissue up each nostril (attractive I know). On one of only two ventures outside, I managed to stub my forehead on the door handle (don't ask).

One plus was that I watched The Grizzly Man from my sick bed. What a fantastic film, I highly recommend it. I was surprised at the character of the Grizzly Man (Timothy Tredwell, who spent 13 summers living with Grizzly Bears in Alaska) as not knowing much about the film, I thought he would be a likeable guy to be respected for the work he had done. Instead, he came across as quite childish and self centred. Although the footage he captured was amazing, I got the impression that the projects were more for the benefit of the Grizzly Man himeself than the bears he claimed to be protecting, who in my opinion, he did not gain a true understanding of.
