Little Missy Milo
This morning Milo gave me a terrible scare. She was due to shed during the night, the humidty had been right this time so I expected it all to go smoothly. On uncovering her in the morning I was faced with the view of her sprawled out in the open, head flopped to one side and she'd fully retained her shed. She looked awful. There's something about how their skin goes when they retain a shed that is horrible. Gathering my wits about me I opened the viv, felt the bulb guard heat was still ok, time to poke her. She was alive!
All of this before I'd even had a cup of tea. Long soak in the bath, several runs through a towel and she was half shed. I didn't have much choice for her head and neck other than to let her get on with it herself. I pursuaded her in to her moss box and left her to it.
On talking to The Boy I realised what the problem had been this time. She usually uses the inside of her hides to rub against to break through the skin on her nose but with only cardboard hides she'd been unable to get any purchase on it and she's too shy to shed in the open and use the viv walls. I guess she'll just have to be upgraded to her bigger viv (and proper hides) before her next shed.
As you can see though, she's back to her gorgeous self. It seems like no time since she fitted in the palm of my hand.
