Mt. Roup

This photo is similar to yesterday's but is taken from the 'almost summit' of Mt. Roup. The view looks across the Col de la Rocheure and the Glacier des Fours towards the Mean-Martin in the center. The triangular peak to the right is the Grand Roc Noir which towers over the Glacier du Vallonet.

This morning we headed towards the Fornet intending on skiing Glacier Pers, but the winds were in excess of 100km\h and so the Pissaillas was closed. We doubled back, stopping off at the bottom of the Vallon de l'Iseran bubble to collect my poles, which I'd left in the cabin I took up. Duh.

By the time we were ready to ski down Mt. Roup it was 12.30pm and the snow was a little cooked. Still, there was some excellent deep gobblet in places which makes turning s l o w r i g h t d o w n.

Snow-forecast keeps amending it's forecast, but it looks like we are in for 15-20 c.m over the next couple of days. Hopefully the wind will die down and not blow that snow into the Mediterranean.
