Working in London
After finishing my Council meeting in Stroud on monday night, I arrived in London just before midnight. Anthony and Sarah welcomed me with a fine glass or three of differing wines, followed by a delicious Grappa, which Anthony thought was 'custardy'. Somewhat later than anticipated, after our session of catching up, I got to bed far too late and woke even later.
Work started on upgrading their three Macs and generally sorting out their various needs. I didn't manage to leave the house and worked till about 8pm. While Sarah finished cooking a scrumptious flan, as per a famous person's recipe, Anthony seduced me with a succession of delightful alcoholic beverages. His Margarita started the proceedings, followed by a Cerevza chaser, a Noilly Prat, a now forgotten Italian snifter finishing with Vinho Verde and a fine Chilean Caberrnet. After all this I expected to feel rather poorly, but not a bit of it. Anthony's careful judgement of flavour and volume was perfect as was Sarah's delicious dinner.
I have known Anthony for several years now, having met in Stroud through an old 'school-friendl' (in Surrey), although he lives and works as an architect in London. I'd last met Sarah in London, when she kindly provided a voice-over for a film I helped make for the United Nations 50th anniversary celebration in London in 1996, though she was a friend before that. Now she makes her living by writing imaginatively and somehow met Anthony about a year ago. We were all amazed that I knew them both completely separately. This was the first time we had met all together, and a jolly good time seemed to be had by all. Heres to the six degrees of separation Sarah mentioned.
I have shown only Anthony here, as my pics of Sarah were taken after I had been drinking, so you can guess why they don't appear.
