Tales from the Old Mills

Last Man Standing

Harrumph- excuse me while I clear my throat...
Im not crying, you understand. Its an allergy thing...
They are pollen tears, you know....

The guy on the right is my oldest friend, my daughters Godfather.
We have been kicking around together for thirty odd years.
His parents half-raised me, both before, and after, mine died.
I always knew where the key to the back door was.
And I was always welcome.

The girl on the left, well, I fell in love with her when we were sixteen.
Even back then, she had sense, knew better, and didnt reciprocate.
She was stunningly beautiful back then, and is even more so now.

Yesterday, two of the people I love most in this world got married.
And I had the privilege of taking the photos.

They recently added greatly to the national gene pool, by presenting the world with their little daughter Eva.

She slept thro the shoot, God bless her little head.

She has an uncle in secret that will always look out for her, in much the same way her parents have looked out for me.
A cousin in secret (my daughter, The Child), who will be instructed to do the same..

An entire family- scores of people- that will keep an eye out, and make sure that, no matter where she goes, or what she does, the kindnesses of her parents will never be forgotten.

And, to Kala and Emer- it was truly one of the best days of my life.
