Day Eighteen - Project Ensuite
Finally we have some tiles down - yippeee!
After the insulation boards for the underfloor heating went down, the mat with the wires was next. I'd got the wrong size so had to swap it for a smaller one. That went down with a bit of work by the electrician and the builder to make it fit. None of the heating wires are allowed to touch, and they all have to be a certain distance away from each other. Then there is a special powder based product that gets mixed up and covers all the wires and holds them in place. That took forever to dry!
So the next day when the builder came back to start the floor tile laying he couldn't because the floor was still too wet - groan. So another day was lost.
The electrician then did all his tests and checked the readings and we left it on over night on low to dry everything out.
Yippee, master plan worked and the floor tiles went down. They took a full day as the tiles are so thick they are hard to cut, plus they had to be cut in lovely curves to go round the bottom of the shower. So finally they are now down!
I had hoped to go in and to a tiny bit of decorating, but the floor is totally out of bounds until it is dry. It is perfectly level and any weight on it might have moved something.
So no problem, I took the husband and a friend out for a curry instead - much better!
